CHARITY PARTNERSHIP

Niglon became the first-ever Commercial Agreement (CA) partner of the Electrical Industries Charity. Donating 10% of all profit made from sales of any product in the Median range.

MEDIAN IS LAUNCHED

Median is a new take on traditional moulded wiring accessories manufactured in bright white Urea.

PREMIUM S EDGE LAUNCHED

New advanced decorative switches and sockets are added to the wiring accessories range.

NEW PRODUCTS LAUNCHED

Over 600 new product lines and additional investment into the office and sales teams.

NIGLON IS 50

And moves into a new, purpose-built head office.

SIMON HINLEY

The company’s present Managing Director and 3rd generation of the family joins the business.

JEREMY WILSON

Joins the company serving 43 years, finally retiring as Purchasing Director in 2019.

NIGLON’S ONLY SALESPERSON

John travels the country, often accompanied by wife Janet, and would sometimes end up sleeping in his car while travelling around the country.

NIGLON’S FIRST PREMISES

Situated on the third floor of Birmingham’s Floodgate Street. Everything comes in and out of a single pedestrian door, with connector strips being stacked to the ceiling!

NIGLON LIMITED IS FORMED

With a view to selling cost-effective branded products to the wholesale market.

Based in the centre of Birmingham, where Stanley & John begin to operate from.

JOHN GRAHAME HINLEY

Joins his father as a sales agent. The two would compete for how much commission they earned each week!

1949

STANLEY DOUGLAS HINLEY

Begins working as a manufacturer’s agent, trading as S.D Hinley and selling on commission for Cryselco, Grelco & Contactum.
